Walking at Bells BeachPark to Woody Point, Redcliffe, Queensland

So every week, I try and go on an adventure and it doesn’t have to be somewhere new. This week, I started at Bells BeachPark and walked to Woody Point Jetty in Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia.

I parked just in front of Bells BeachPark and the instant smell of seaweed was so intense when I opened my car door it made me laugh out loud. And then I closed my door. Was it going to smell the entire time I was out there? I got my things and re-opened the door. The smell quickly left, thank goodness and I didn’t smell it for the rest of the time I was there.

The view immediately was exciting and it was a very interesting walk with all the different types of landscape to see along the way. As you can see in the above photo I took, it half circles around from the beach to trees and then to apartment living.

Walking along the beach, I felt like my stresses were lifted and I definitely could see the benefit of living near a beach. At first I walked close to the waves crashing and looked for cool shells lost in between the sea weed. The sand was firm and easy to walk and then as I kept going up a bit on the beach, the sand was soft and really gave my legs a good workout.

The crashing of the waves was just consuming all my senses. It was beautiful to hear and watch and I took multiple photos of the gentle waves.

As I walked over the bridge walk way, I became into a new section. I was no longer at a beach but still very beachy style with tall palm trees along the walk way, with these gorgeous big rocks laying across the ocean bank. I am not sure if it’s there to prevent flooding or purely for the look of it but I liked it and those large rock walls travelled quite far along the walk.

And if you see in the far back of this photo, is Brisbane city. I thought that was pretty incredible that I could see the city which is about 30-45mins away drive. Whenever I go out with my Dad, when I was young and now older, and we are at a beach, he will tell me what’s over the ocean. Like, “Mel, over there is the shipping containers.” “Or over there is Moreton Island.” It doesn’t matter where we are, he will know what is on the other side of the ocean. I have always found that pretty impressive and have always been curious when not with him, what’s on the other side.

The walking continued and soon I was passing another car park, with another playground and picnic areas near toilets. (Always important to know). Also, lots of people walking their dogs. All the dogs were lovely and just loving their walk along the ocean as much as I was.

And then came the green space with tall trees but very open space. The path was littered with tall lights. I felt like the jetty was far away still but I really wanted to get there.

Soon I walked past more sandy beachy area and saw a woman throw a rock in the water and she looked around to see if anyone was looking. It made me want to throw a rock in too but I kept walking. Having no head phones in while walking really helped all my senses help me experience the entire experience the ocean and landscape wanted to give and it really helped me relax. I even spotted sun chairs!!!

And soon, I hit the busy Woody Point street filled with restaurants and apartments, oh and another playground. Now I was getting close to the Jetty. I was getting closer! But I didn’t just want to reach the jetty, I wanted to walk over it.
I love walking over jetty’s. I saw this seagull, try to fly in the wind and it just glided in the air but didn’t move. I just watched it and it slowly glided from one side of the jetty to the next but it was majestic to watch.

There were some fisherman on the jetty and I asked one, if he had caught anything and he replied with, “not today.” And as I reached the top end of the jetty, the ocean was incredibly deep now and dark green / blue waters were stunning.

And then it was starting to get dark and I had to walk back but my legs were tired. So I walked back and thought I had seen everything but I saw this flying fish just jumping in and out of the water. I looked around but nobody else saw this cool thing.

I finally got back and thought surely with my legs aching I have done an incredible amount of steps. 7,000 steps. That felt pretty good. It was definitely a relaxing and explorative walk that I found quite enjoyable.
