Travelling to Bulcock Beach, Sunshine Coast, Queensland

I was dreaming about seeing the clear and soft sand at the beach at the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. I haven’t been to the Sunshine Coast in about 7 years. I love the Sunshine Coast, especially the beaches and the clear and soft sand and blue skies.

So I decided to catch public transport there (quite a trip but it went quick and 50c fairs #winning) and went to Caloundra up the coast of Brisbane near King’s Beach at Bulcock Beach.

A stop at Landsborough station, while the wait for the bus meant exploring Landsborough and discovering the Landsborough museum, which was a cool find. The museum had some interesting history as well as some activities even for adults to partake. It was a free exhibit and also had much needed toilets after the travel.

Caloundra’s crystal waters

The Sunshine Coast has beautiful crystal waters. And this one beach at Bulcock Beach is about a good walk from King’s Beach. The water was still and about knee deep, so I could lay in it, swim in it and just relax. There were different sections of this beach and later I ventured through the waters knee deep in large rocks and then stunning clear white sand to the waves of the beach section. It was for a more fun experience where the waves crash around you, on you and over you.

There was an island where people seemed to enjoy fishing. I wanted to walk there but mindful of time and also thirsty I didn’t get a chance. But that will be on the to-do list next time.

Caloundra’s blue skies

I must say, I went on a perfect day and the skies were blue and stunning, just as the water was blue and glistening. Although, I dare say, even if it was a day of grey clouds and rain, the fun and joy of the beach would still be much appreciated.

It wasn’t too hot either. Although I did come out of the water regularly for some water and wow the amount of people who brought canopies was surprising. Seven years ago they may have been one or two canopies but on this adventure to Caloundra, the beach was decorated with blue and white canopies.

Yet I still found the perfect spot to place my towel on the sandy beach.

A strip of cafes in Caloundra

Across the road was a strip of cafes perfect for ice cream gelato and milkshakes, plus extra water. And about two streets away was the public transport so it literally drops you at the beach. And of course there are toilets just in the section next to the beach, which is handy as they are close to the cafes and the water.

It was the perfect day

As you can tell by my photos, everything I have described is exactly as it was on the day. I definitely would recommend a trip to Caloundra on a gorgeous summer’s day.
